Rob Dobi is a New Jersey-based photographer, illustrator, and graphic designer who -- in addition to designing cool, graphic tees and working with bands like Fall Out Boy, Angels & Airwaves, and Coheed and Cambria -- has made something of a name for himself shooting abandoned institutions in the Northeast.
The Rhode Island School of Design graduate's photographs are breathtakingly lit and gorgeously textural (seriously -- the man is a maestro of peeling paint and exquisite decay). Some of the images he captures (like "Cross," top, and "Branches," above) are spooky and downright chilling; others are eerily beautiful. But all share an almost tangible sense of sadness and loss -- and I, for one, cannot stop looking at them.
A selection of Dobi's work from his haunting "New England Ruins" series:
Divine Coat
Pines 7
Salon Chair
Horizon Door
Not an Exit
Flower Bedframe
Garage
Doors
Park Temporarily Closed
CVH Dresser

Outlet
Pines 8
Dobi's photographs are available for purchase on ImageKind. Prices range from about $16 for a 6-by-10-inch print to $64 for a 24-by-36-inch print. You can also have the images custom framed ($73 and up) or printed on canvas and shipped to you ready to hang ($32 and up).

(Thanks to Hannah, of Pie Bird Press and Printer & Piemaker, for first bringing Dobi to my attention!)
