eBay Find of the Day: Democratic Donkey or Republican Elephant?

Today is the big day! So what's it going to be, America?

Vintage Zoo-Line Wooden Donkey. Current bid: $10 (the auction ends Sunday, November 9).

Vintage Kay Bojesen Wooden Elephant. Current bid: $54 (the auction ends Wednesday, November 5).

(Me? I'm of the donkey persuasion. But you knew that.)

eBay Find of the Day: Teak Salad Set

What could be more perfect for serving all those fresh salads you'll be tucking into this summer? (Though it's not like you actually need such a good-looking incentive to eat healthy. Right?)

This teak salad set was manufactured by Dansk and comes with a large serving bowl plus four individual bowls and two salad servers. Trust me, it'll look smashing on your patio table on a balmy summer evening.

Current bid: $15

eBay Find of the Day: Danish Modern Ducks

I've become sort of obsessed recently with vintage Danish Modern teak toys. They just have such a sweet simplicity to them, and add a winsome note to a shelf or tabletop vignette without sending you into a saccharine overdose.

This set of five teak ducks -- a mama and four babies -- was designed in the Fifties by Hans Bolling for Torben Orskov and measure between 5 and 9 inches tall.

I might just have to throw down for these.

Current bid: $34

eBay Find of the Day: Scandinavian Storage Cabinet

How totally stylin' is this circa-1950s Scandinavian storage cabinet?

I love the sexy tapered legs, the minty teak finish, the clever swing-out bins and flip-top lids, and that grip-handle on top absolutely slays me. (And no, I don't think it's weird that I'm getting this worked up over a piece of furniture ... )

Current bid: $305, plus $64 shipping from the Netherlands. (Not cheap, but hey -- it's an investment piece, people.)

eBay Find of the Day: Teak Penguin

I need this.

Current bid: $20.

eBay Find of the Day: Teak Chest

This petite teak chest of drawers has a slim, compact profile and great versatility. Use the Denmark-produced piece in an entrance hall, as a nightstand or side table, or tuck it up against a wall and top it with vintage-modern pottery or other retro accents.

(And if Danish Modern is your thing, be sure to check out the Los Angeles-based seller's other auctions.)

Current bid: $34.

eBay Find of the Day: Teak Credenza

If we hadn't finally snagged our long-sought Danish credenza recently, I'd be seriously tempted to bid on this one.

Super-long (almost 90 inches!) and low, this circa-1960 teak credenza is a real beauty. And I love those sexy legs.

Current bid: $355. (No, it's not cheap -- but this is a seriously collectible, covetable piece of furniture.)

eBay Find of the Day: Sunburst Clock

I'm totally digging the grooviness of vintage sunburst clocks and mirrors right now. I love the combination of teak and brass rays on this one, the fact that it takes an AA battery instead of having an ugly dangling cord like a lot of similar midcentury models, and especially the fact that it's an impressive 27 inches in diameter.

Current bid: $22. (Hurry -- the auction ends Monday afternoon.)

Retail Therapy: Klassik by Lynne

If you've spent any time lately trolling our local craigslist outpost for Danish Modern furniture, you can't have missed Lynne's listings. She always has the mintiest pieces, which she culls on regular trips home to Denmark.

Now Lynne's opened a warehouse and showroom in Emeryville that's stocked with to-die-for teak credenzas, swanky armchairs, and sharp-looking midcentury dressers and tables by the likes of Hans Wegner, Clausen & Son, N.O. Moller, and other Danish design luminaries -- plus a drool-worthy selection of vintage modern objets, funky lighting, and contemporary art.

I stopped in on opening day today to check it out, and while I regrettably had to leave the $1,500 wall-length credenza behind, I did snag this totally cute trio of chartreuse apple bowls for just $5 a pop! Lynne couldn't have been nicer, and I know I'll be back again soon.

Visit the showroom Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1313 67th Street in Emeryville, right around the corner from Berkeley's famed Urban Ore salvage yard and just a quick jaunt up San Pablo from the equally fab Retro @ Home. You can also check out the Klassik by Lynne website here.
