Totally hot. (And yes, I do realize that many of you will disagree ... Feel free to discuss in the comments area.)
$1,400 for the pair from Paris Hotel Boutique.
Or maybe inspiration for your next DIY chair-rehab project?
Update: Raging debate over these very chairs going on courtesy of the (cough) always-polite commenters at Apartment Therapy: San Francisco.

Just goes to show, lust is an unpredictable thing. I usually love your choices. But this one! Are you serious? Just imagine what they'd lokk like after a month of use? Oh dear... I'm turning into my mother....
Lust is in the eye of the beholder and in this case it's not in my eye at all. I think these chairs are like sauerkraut -- it's either love or hate with no in-between.
I AM serious -- I think these are way cool. I'm not saying they're super-practical or will work in any space or appeal to everyone. But they're different, and surprising, and I just dig 'em.
To each her own, right guys?

I'm w/ you, Leah - I LOVE these! They're amazing!! Would love to call them my own. Sigh.
Oh man I am allll over this like a cheap suit. I want these like WHOA. They would be perfect by my bay windows in my new San Francisco bohemian crash pad. WANT WANT WANT GIMMEEEE 14HUNDREDDOLLARSRIGHTNOW
i don't have time to find the link at the moment, but i think sylvie (of sosylvie) did something up (a french style loveseat?) in burlap once? her store is in south bay, if any of your local readers want to hunt that piece up. :)
These are definitely kind of awesome... they'd need a particular kind of decor to work well but no question, they are cool. But possibly not that comfortable?
I like them well enough, but they honestly remind me of 2003-4. I felt like the whole "cover everything in burlap" phase peaked at that point. There's a GREAT vendor out of NC whose been doing this for ages. Her company name is "Emelie's" although it's nigh impossible to find anything about her on the internet because she's very low-tech. You can see her at High Point though if you attend that show. Her prices are higher, but her finishes and shapes CANNOT be beat if you're looking for that faded grandeur look. And her stuff is always being featured in magazines.
I am part of the camp that LOVES! It probably is extremely impractical being that it is probably scratchy. And I would have prefered black wood trim instead of the grey, silver thing they have going on. But still love!
These chairs are GREAT! And I wouldn't be worried about lolling on them or making sure my shoes were off before plopping down and they look very cushy comfy. I love the silver trim.
LOVE.
In fact, I went on eBay yesterday and purchased some burlap sacks so I can figure out a DIY project. I would opt to cover the front in a different fabric. I imagine sitting on burlap wouldn't be too cozy. LOVE the backs, though. Love the large print. Love the grey painted wood. Love how they look in a formal living room.
Great post! And thanks for the inspiration! If I cover something, I'll definitely send a picture. :)
These are brilliant, though I do agree with a lot of the Apartment Therapy readers that the upholstery job could be a lot better. I don't really dig the wrinkles or the torn bits peaking out. I have several burlap coffee bags hanging around for when inspiration strikes. I'm actually thinking a cute little thrifted ottoman could be a really great alternative for a DIY project. Easier to execute, the burlap comfort factor is not as essential, and it would give off the same vibe without taking over the room.
oh it just doesn't get any better than those chairs - love love love them!
have a fabulous weekend darling!
i actually really LOVE the concept for this. i love reusing materials that we otherwise wouldn't think of using as upholstery. i'm not exactly sure how comfortable burlap is, but a good alternative would be rice or flour sacks. they are not only soft, but very strong as well. my mom recycled flour sacks and made them into my diapers when my siblings and i were babies :)
