Mark Your Calendar: Crossing the Line in Santa Rosa

The Sonoma County city of Santa Rosa is a bit off the beaten track for me, but the lineup for Crossing the Line, a new exhibit at the Santa Rosa Junior College Art Gallery, looks kind of awesome. I may just have to find a reason to head to the North Bay during one of the coming weekends so I can check it out.

The show merges "artists using traditional materials with unconventional and diverse approaches." Participants include Jen Garrido (above) ...

Lisa Solomon

Kathryn Kenworth

John Casey (who, by the way, just posted great pix from last night's opening reception)

... and several others. Crossing the Line will be up until December 13. More info here.

You could combine the trip with a stop at the Farmers Market. Great breakfast, produce and pre-fab foods. And downtown Santa Rosa has a nice off-beat vibe with some fun shops and plenty of good coffee. If you take 101 you can be there in 45 minutes. Take Hwy 12 home through the Valley of the Moon. It's gorgeous right now. Be sure to stop at Kaz (http://www.kazwinery.com/). The wines are fantastic (especially the white port, if there's any left), and Kaz is a great storyteller. Seriously, just make a day out of it. Cheers.

Hi Sean,

Trust me -- I love Sonoma county, and am eager to explore downtown SR.

It's just that with two kids who have weekends full of school picnics and soccer games, my time is not really my own, and getting away for a day of shopping, wine tasting, and art gallery hopping is usually easier said than done!
