How To: Make a Knitted Pouf

I am totally going to make one of these.

Go here for step-by-step instructions. If you can knit and purl, it actually looks incredibly easy. And even though it requires 18 skeins of super-fat yarn plus stuffing, it'll still cost a heck of a lot less than the $800-$1,600 Flocks Poufs at DWR.

There's a smaller version, too.

(From Norway's Pickles blog -- don't worry, the instructions are in English -- via Tikoli's Twitter, via Craft, via CasaSugar.)

I made one! It turned out great, and it's a simple and fun project. If you make one, I'd suggest knitting it in the round instead of on two needles. I think my pouf would have been nicer if it was seamless.

Thanks so much for the tip, Alana! I would absolutely do that, if only I knew how to knit in the round ... ;-)

I saw a piece like this at my friend's place once. It may have been bigger though, as I remember someone sitting on top of a ball like this one.

I so need to learn how to knit.

Paula -- you totally should! I'm utterly hopeless at handicrafts, and even I managed to pick it up without too much trouble. I'm not really any good at knitting, but I find it really relaxing, and now my family has more hand-knitted scarves than they'll ever need ...

Wow! That's a project! I'd probably start, and end up with a floor mat!

This is darling and my hat is off to any of you who can accomplish this---very lovely---I used to crochet when I was little (my grandma taught me) but it has been years.

I knit, but SLOWLY, so I'd probably finish this in the year 2018.

Thank you so much for posting this! I recently did a search for "woman knitting" and saw the person who make one, and a rug incidentally, but couldn't find any information about it (like fiber type) to do it myself. Luckily I'm a skilled enough knitter to have figured out that it was Garter stitched (the version I was looking at)...not to just find the right size fiber & needles...
