I've been fantasizing endlessly about an adults-only trip to New York this spring. (Unless a couple thousand bucks magically fall out of the sky, it ain't gonna happen. But still.)
We'd do grown-up things the entire time: Shopping from one end of the island (and Brooklyn) to the other, visiting museums and galleries, enjoying meals at trendy eateries, and meeting old friends for drinks. And we'd crash at the brand new, industrial chic Ace Hotel New York. With rooms there starting at just $99 a night -- cheap by Manhattan standards -- that's just about the only part of this scenario that's not straight out of Fantasyland.
Anyway, take a look:
More info on the Ace's new Manhattan outpost here.
(P.S. My visit to the Portland, Oregon Ace is detailed here.)

The problem with the NY Ace (for me, anyway) is that they're displacing long-time residents. They're not being as shady as other developers, but they sure are making it miserable for the residents who've decided to stay:

Judy: Huh ... interesting.
not sure that bunk beds is my idea of a vaca, but the rest looks pretty darn good. maybe your kids can babysit my kids and we can all flee our parental duties for 48 hours.
I'm pretty sure the bunk beds are in the bargain-priced "band rooms."
And sadly, I wouldn't trust my kids with your kids ... ;-)
Besides, kick and scream though they might, my kids are NOT coming along the next time we go to NYC.
I actually think this looks like a blast. Thanks for the link.
