Cool stuff: IKEA Summer Collection

My "complicated" relationship with IKEA is no secret -- I love it and I hate it. Right now, I'm feeling like IKEA definitely has its place: While I'm determined to limit the amount of cheap particleboard, plastic, and Chinese-produced goods in my home, I've made peace with the occasional modest splurge at the Big Blue for basics and for fun seasonal accents. And god knows, you can't beat the prices.

In addition to the forthcoming PS Collection that Emma recently previewed, which has me drooling (and which apparently may not even be released in U.S. stores), several things from IKEA's soon-to-launch 2009 summer collection caught my eye:

Roxo Easy Chair, $139, and Tray Table, $40

Greno Cushions, $13 each

Clockwise from top left: Greno Cushions, $10 each, Floor Cushions, $30 each, Tray, $5, Bags, $1.49 each, and Plant Pots, $2 each

Vano Easy Chairs, $50 each, and Styrso Nesting Tables, $40 for three

Solig Solar Lights, $10 each

IKEA's 2009 summer collection will start rolling into the Swedish superstores in the next couple of weeks, and typically sells out by the end of June.

Is this a joke? This is insane! These summer goods look deelish!~ I went to Ikea over the weekend, and am proud to say I got a very lovely little pedestal table--made of real birch might I add! :-)

I agree-these pieces look great! I too have a love hate relationship with IKEA, mostly because I always come home with way to many things that I don't need.

I was just there on Tuesday. I bought two large black Mynta pots. I had to...they were $49 each and I am sure they would be sold out in no time. I stopped by again and there was one left! It's not a bad price...they weigh a ton though!

ugh, ikea... i hate it. but sometimes i can't help but give in. today in fact, we went and i picked up a little filing cabinet that took over an hour to assemble because they had packed the left pieces with the right wall and vice versa which of course was not figured out till the end when the drawers won't slide in properly. but with all the kinks worked out, the little cabinet is exactly what i needed... sigh.

Everyone struggles with the whole IKEA love/hate thing. Right now, I'm "off" IKEA. But I need a new dining room table and the economy sucks. Ugggh! They got me again!

Aren't Ikea goods mostly made in China?

I believe they are.

I kind of dream about buying a ton of those cheap plastic rocking chairs they now have, for the outdoors. Being out of a full-time job kind of curtails any unnecessary shopping, even if it is IKEA. That being said, man, if you see something you like, buy it immediately. It took an entire year for them to get in a few more lounge chair cushions so that we'd foolishly assumed we could come back and get a few more of once we figured out if they "worked."

I also have a love/ hate relationship with Ikea!! I can't even remember how many times I've been there to buy something that said was in stock online, only to find out that it had just finished, or was right at the top of the huge racks, so no one could bring it down till the next day - aaah... the amount of people, the long queues, the winding corridors... I always leave Ikea with a great big headache!! but the reality is that they are just unbeatable in terms of variety of products and price.

I checked these out and they do not impress me. They do not come with a support wire so they just hang limp in the air. Yeah, 10$ is an awesome deal but you get what you pay for. I ended up going with a little bit more expensive solar lantern but they are quality..and have much cooler colors. http://www.allsopgarden.com/solar-lanterns/soji-originals/
